What Is Wrong With The Passion "Translation"

You don't have to just take my word for it. Pastor Mike Winger (https://biblethinker.org/) engaged scholars to review The Passion Translation version of the book of the Bible they are the subject matter expert in. Legitimate scholars had ignored the TPT because it wasn't a serious translation, which is why Pastor Winger put this to them. Universally, they found this was not a translation and Brian Simmons is being dishonest with his claims about it and himself.

"Despite the stated intentions, TPT appears to have been reworded from an interlinear, imposing the author's sectarian and personal reflections on the text. If TPT was marketed as a personal reflection on Scripture, or some kind of commentary instead of a translation, it would still be problematic, but this paper would not be needed. Simmons, however, claims that TPT is an accurate and clear translation to be used for preaching and serious study. It is not." - Alex D. Hewitson

The Scholarly Papers on TPT

Here are the scholarly papers on the TPT version of books of the Bible by the subject matter experts. The interviews with them are below. As scholars, they tend to be way too conservative in their criticism. That is the nature of honest academic research, to be cautious and respectful in the handling of any subject. However, their conclusions are clear. The TPT should not be used.

Song Of Songs By Dr. Tremper Longman
Galatians By Dr. Nijay Gupta
